CLINICAL TRIALS

What does this mean ?
Clinical trials are the test of newly invented medicines on human beings with their approbation, basically they are the cornerstone of evidence based medication.
Till now we have heard that these medicines are being tested and supervised on animals only..but its not true as humans are also being kept under trials by ICMR and according to the new clinical trial policy it is imperative that the results must be published in public domain. Simply the results of the registered clinical trials must be publicized.
Clinical trials have always been matter of discussion beacuse the positive results of the test is published and advertised while the negative ones are kept behind bars, Between 2005 and 2012 about 2800 patients have died while participating in clinical trials conducted by the pharmaceutical companies.
According to a research 60% of the clinical trials in the world are hidden that means unregistered few organisations register them after the trial is completed and in India according to Clinical Trial Registry Of India till 30th june of this year there were 9000 registered trials but out of which 5604 were either registered after the trial got started of or when it ended up..!!
In India for any clinical trial the consent of the person undergoing is compulsory but according to reports in many states even the whole village is unknown of the fact that they are being supervised for the influence of their newly invented drug or medicine.
For this careless behavior of the pharma companies in 2014 a PIL was lodged and supreme court ordered that we must look after the authentication and liability of the system so that the trials may happen registered only and so that the affected patients may get the compensation too.
But again this was ignored our govt. must look after it and take some strong steps against these irregularities in the system and so that we may save the people from turning into a test laboratory for companies.
