MY CURIOSITY..TO KNOW ABOUT MINING

Today my curiosity took me to the mining sector and I came up with so many unknown facts.. which I guess you'll also love to know before knowing anything else let's know what does a mining pertains to, well extraction of metals from underground is termed as mining and we are all aware of it, there are two types of mining one is the opencast mining and the other be the underground one or insitu mining, well it's always been an adventure to know about something like this..our parents have used to show us these kinds of things the mines, dams and so on and we have loved to see them because we get a picnic trip added on to our vacation but now that we are grown up a question always arrives in mind and that is what happens when whole of the metal is being extracted out, is that giant hole remains like that only or is being dumped and if dumped then how..? And to this question of mine,i found answer today..!!

Well we're going to basically talk about those horrendous open cast minings.
So begin with knowing what does an open cast mining mean, in simple language it's digging up the rock solid surface, after having identified the mineral reserve's so,the alluvium rock below in which the mineral lies are removed and digged, but in the process of digging what happens to the residue or the loose material which is being removed,
A place which is of no use in terms of mining beside the digging site is excavated and is finalized for the dumping of the residue which is termed as an overburden in engineering language.
Before knowing more about this overburden let's switch to how this mining is done, well many ways are there but the first and foremost remains manual digging with iron rod and chisel, then comes mechanical digging we are known to a fact by the grace of movies and all that a blast procedure is very common in these mining sites so yes it's not an illusion it's true blast is done.. so as to loosen the hard surface, cracking the hard surface so that it becomes easy to take out the overburden, now digging continues untill we reach our precious metals or mineral and the residue is heaped beside as the overburden, but this overburden has some limit's so that it may not cause disaster by sliding off when a blast shakes the surface.. a pillar like rock is there upto which the residue may be dumped, and the surface beside the dumping bed needs to be sloped so that when a blast occurs the overburden may not harm the miner's when the minerals are finally extracted out the overburden needs to be dumped over that giant hole and need not to be left like that only..!!
But it's not that easy how it seems, mining takes a lot more than this..
A stat needs to be known here, that worlds 70% mines are open cast and India's 75% mines are open cast only,
and since the Advent of copper and iron we have claverly known the way to earn alot from our mineral deposits, so beside the profit and countries economy what does it costs a common man..?
Fristly land , the land to be used for mining should be free from human settlements next is cutting of trees, then the land which is being digged ruthlessly needs to be dumped which will remain barren forever because the surface is being destroyed and is rendered unfit for agriculture and residential purposes, the land mined and it's sorrundings shouldn't have any human settlement as frequent blasts will bring crack's to the buildings, the harmful gases coming out will have there share of hazard, the chemical spilled off will have effect on biological settlement as well as on Flora and fauna.
But still mines have there importance since time immemorial, why it's good to have an open cast mining instead of the underground one because there is no problem of roof control, no mineral gets choked in the shafts, large output is available, although it has severe influence due to weather fluctuations but work is quite faster here, hazard's are less prone as compared to the underground one..!!
Over all these advantages and disadvantages, it takes alot to be a miner..!!
Your life is at stake..the efflorescence can cause more then anything else ..you are on the way to death every damn moment, although study Ensures of the overburden being dumped but what about the barren land.. what about the displacements and moreover it's India and we better know how norms are being followed here, the hazardous conditions of the locality where mining prevails needs to be looked after, when it's about the country's economic development then why only a section of society suffer..?

Irrespective of the perks and crunches miner's get, it's more of a call for better facility and security measures..!!
The nature and its reserves who had served for the wealth of our country by forgoing there green Minor's will surely cost alot in return.. this exploitation needs to be stopped here only or else we'll have to pay for it and that will be disastrous..!!
Will have to think in this direction as well..!
Till then..
BE SAFE
